Two months of road paving to begin in downtown Dunlap

Aug. 10, 2019 – The Sequatchie County Highway Department (SCHD) announced this week that the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) plans to begin road work in downtown Dunlap within the next few days, to last about two months.

County Highway Supervisor Eric Higgins stated the paving work will be taking place primarily at night along US 127, although there will be some daytime work on sidewalks.

The area of roadway in question begins at the US 127-SR 28 split next to Walgreen's and continues north through town to just the other side of the SR 111 overpass.

Construction was scheduled to begin Wednesday, Aug. 7, with an expected completion date of Oct. 4, although as of this morning it had not yet begun.

The contractor will be working during the daytime while performing the modifications to the sidewalk areas specified,” Higgins said. “Other construction-related issues, including paving and milling, will be performed at night, from 7 p.m. To 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights.”

Any questions related to this project should be directed to the TDOT District Office at 949-2195.
