March 16, 2019 -- The Bledsoe County Soil Conservation District (SCD) and the Sequatchie County SCD hosted “Pond Management Field Day” at the Swafford Family Farm on Tuesday, March 12. There were more than 100 in attendance.

Travis Scott of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) spoke about stocking rates and launced a TWRA boat on the pond water, so that a first-hand demonstration about pond sampling was observed by all.

Plant science expert Craig Kimbro from UT Extension - Grundy County spoke about pond plant life, weed control, and much more.

Conservationist Justin Howard was the emcee throughout the event and spoke about Cost-Share and EQIP programs.

Betty Bailey, with Seepage Control out of Arizona, spoke on how to seal ponds using their natural and cost-effective product ESS-13.

Bledsoe UT Extension 4-H prepared a fish fry supper for everyone to enjoy.

It was a picture-perfect day for the event,” Sequatchie County SCD Administrator Donna Knox said. “A big thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Perry Swafford for their hospitality. We greatly appreciate you both!”
