Feb. 5, 2019 – A traffic stop led to a marijuana arrest on Friday, Feb. 1, near the Save-a-Lot grocery store in Dunlap.
Eduardo Enrique Arrufat, Jr., 24, of Crossville, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana for resale, in addition to several traffic violations, after a Dunlap police officer pulled him over for speeding as he traveled northbound on TN 111.
“We don't usually get a pound of marijuana,” Dunlap Police Chief Clint Huth said Tuesday. “In this case, we got a little over a pound.”
A police officer pulled Arrufat over at 7:50 p.m. Friday, and when he approached the car to speak with him, he detected “a strong smell of marijuana,” Huth said. “He also observed what appeared to be marijuana butts in the vehicle.”
On searching the car, officers found a vacuum-sealed bag with a little over a pound of marijuana in the trunk.
Arrufat was transported to the Sequatchie County Jail where he was released later on $1,500 bond. His initial court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 15.
