SCSO arrests Fredonia man on assault charges after shots fired

Jan. 24, 2019 – A domestic argument on Fredonia Mountain early Wednesday morning led to shots being fired and one man arrested for assault.

At about 7:23 a.m., the Sequatchie County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) dispatched a deputy to 273 Flat Mountain Rd. on reports of an altercation.

According to Detective Jason Harvey, Jessica Williams and her husband, Craig Williams, 45, were arguing over pictures on a cell phone when Mr. Williams “grabbed her arm, pushed her, and shoved her to the ground.”

Mrs. Williams fled to a car parked across the street from the residence and got into it. Mr. Williams pointed a rifle at her and fired two shots, one over the roof of the car and the other into the ground.

Craig Williams was arrested and charged with domestic assault, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm while committing a dangerous felony, and possession of Schedule II and IV drugs (pills).

He is being held on open court bond until his initial appearance in Sequatchie County General Sessions Court Feb. 4.
