Sequatchie voters help give Republicans Tennessee victory

The Sequatchie County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and Sheriff's Department brought a generator to the Cagle precinct after storms knocked out power.

Nov. 6, 2018 – Sequatchie County voters threw their support behind the Republicans in the Nov. 6 General Election, giving each of the GOP candidates over 70 percent of the vote in their respective races.

With a 49.42 percent turnout, Republican Bill Lee won 75.19 percent of the vote for governor, leaving Democrat Karl Dean 23.69 percent.

Politico is projecting Bill Lee the winner of the race for governor of Tennessee, having garnered 67.2% of the vote with 19.3% of the precincts in.

They also are projecting Republican wins in the other races.

Sequatchie County results in those races are:

U. S. SENATE

Marsha Blackburn (Rep.) 70.90% – Phil Bredesen (Dem.) 27.23%

U. S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Scott DesJarlais (Rep.) 72.26% – Mariah Phillips (Dem.) 24.58%

TENNESSEE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Ron Travis (Rep.) 79.71% – Dean M. Sparks (Dem.) 20.25%

A total of 5,058 people voted in Sequatchie County in this election – 2,810 in the early voting and 2,247 on Election Day – out of 10,235 registered voters.
