Early morning blaze claims home on Fredonia Mountain

May 16, 2018 – A house in Deerhead Resort was destroyed by fire in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 15, but no one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.

According to a spokesman for Cagle Volunteer Fire Department (VFD), the call came in at 12:21 a.m., for Cagle Fire Department to provide assistance to Fredonia VFD on a residential structure fire.

Units responded to 1275 Fawn Circle, where a large home was already fully involved.

Firefighters worked the fire for three hours, but the home was a total loss.

Responding to the scene of the fire were volunteer firefighters from both departments, Constable Travis Sherman, Emergency Management Director Winfred Smith, Jr., Sequatchie County Sheriff's deputies, and Dunlap VFD, with assistance also provided by 911 Dispatch.

Units returned to service at 3:36 a.m.

According to Cagle Fire Chief Robert Rude, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
