April 11, 2018 – The Dunlap Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred early Sunday morning, April 8, at the Eagle Express convenience store on TN 28 south.
According to Police Chief Clint Huth, his department received a call at 5:50 a.m. Sunday that a clerk in the store had been robbed by a masked man.
“The subject walked into the store dressed in dark clothing, wearing gloves, and a cloth wrapped around his head,” Huth said Tuesday. “He had a handgun, and he demanded money from the cash register and threatened to shoot the cashier” if he failed to comply.
Although the robber was completely covered, so that the cashier could not be sure about the race or gender, the voice was that of a man. He was estimated to be between 5 feet, 8 inches and 6 feet tall, and he left in a small gray car.
Over $300 was taken, Huth said.
“We are seeking any information we can get from the public,” he added.
Anyone with information that will lead to the identification and arrest of the thief is encouraged to call the Dunlap Police Department at 423-949-3319.
