Eight injured when 4-wheeler strikes Amish horse and buggy

UPDATE:  A GoFundMe account has been set up by neighbors of the Bieler family, to help them with their medical expenses.  They do not have any health insurance.

Feb. 12, 2018 – On Sunday afternoon, Feb. 11, a 4-wheeler struck an Amish buggy on Fredonia Mountain, knocking the horse and buggy into the ditch and injuring eight people.

The Sequatchie County Sheriff's Department and Puckett EMS were dispatched at about 5 p.m. Sunday to Fredonia Road, near the intersection with Coca Cola Road.

Puckett EMS transported eight injured patients to Erlanger Hospital.

According to unofficial reports, the horse survived the accident.

Cagle Volunteer firefighters assisted at the scene with traffic control, and by righting the buggy and getting it back on the road.

Also assisting at the scene were members of Fredonia Volunteer Fire Department and Constable Travis Sherman.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
