NWS: Minor flooding to continue through Monday night

Feb. 11, 2018 – The National Weather Service office in Morristown, Tenn., has much of eastern Tennessee under a Flood Warning through Monday evening, including Sequatchie County.

As of 9:18 a.m. CST, the NWS has an Active Flood Warning in effect for the Sequatchie River near Whitwell, Tenn.

At 8:15 a.m., the stage was at 13.4 feet and rising,” the announcement read. “Flood stage is 14 feet. Minor flooding is forecast.”

The NWS forecasts the river to rise to 14.5 feet after midnight tonight and recede to below flood stage by Monday afternoon.

Weather forecasts are calling for a break in the rain this afternoon, but with additional showers expected Monday morning before clearing Monday afternoon.
