County Executive Keith Cartwright proclaimed Jan. 21-27 "School Board Appreciation Week."

Jan. 9, 2018 – Sequatchie County Executive Keith Cartwright addressed the County Board of Education at their Jan. 8 meeting to proclaim the week of Jan. 21-27 School Board Appreciation Week. Pointing out the value of the board's faithfulness to always seek what is best for students, Cartwright commended board members for their contribution to Sequatchie County.

In official business, the school board voted to purchase an 84-passenger Blue Bird school bus for $90,602.

They also voted to approve the 2018 Sequatchie County Budget Calendar.

Chief Financial Officer Sherry Johnson addressed the board to inform them that the state audit of the school system had produced no findings.

Board members approved a change of date for their next board meeting, due to a schedule conflict on the part of Director of Schools Pete Swafford. The next meeting will be Thursday, Feb. 8, at Sequatchie County High School. The board will meet with city and county commissioners that day at 5:30 p.m., and the school board meeting will follow at 7 p.m. CST.

All members of the Board of Education were present at Monday's meeting, and all votes were unanimous. It was a brief meeting, taking less than 15 minutes.
